100 Days on the job…how well were you doing?!?

April 14, 2011

How were you doing after 100 days on your new job?

After 100 days on the job, maybe you didn’t have the resources Rick Scott has, but maybe you didn’t have the challenges either?  Maybe you didn’t have a train running through your head, like  the St. Petersburg Times entire editorial staff would have you believe.  Or the mainstream media looking for your scalp.   Good luck!  You wouldn’t think Governor Scott’s one advantage would be that he’s bald.  In this case it’s a plus.

There’s a song, “Who cares”, by Anouk, their song start like this…

Did you ever wake up in the morning
With a freight-train running through your head
An empty whiskey bottle by your pillow
And a burned out unfinished cigarette
The night went up in smoke
Life is but a joke man
But I see nobody laughing

Greedy, angry people make me
Run around in circles backwards
Down the lonely road that keeps me
Run around in circles

Great song and how apropos.

In the cycling world, where I spend as much time as I can; in the saddle on a road bike, for the exercise and the challenge,  a 100 mile ride is called a Century.  That’s a long day for me.

Today Rick Scott has been in office 100 days, which may seem like a century.  Think about your first 100 days in a job.  The best part of it is that you survived.  You persevered.  You went on to be successful (or not).  If you are like me, 100 days in a job does not  “a success or failure make.”  Let’s give the Gov a chance.

It’s going to be a long ride.  Maybe we should cut him some slack?

Not everyone looks great in Spandex.
